New location, new beginnings.

A new generation has been added to the family since the previous post and number two son is no more.

We have relocated further north and east with no regrets.

One of the objectives here is not to rebuild the old midden.

The rosemary by the door is becoming huge so today cuttings are to be taken and, when they are established, out comes the bush and a large pot will suffice.

Wednesday I have cleared the area which was covered with plastic and moved the covers to the area next to the cage. I tried just rotavating but the machine did not dig deeply enough. So I have dug all round the edge. A final digging will have to await our return from Shanklin.

Allotment news

I have moved to a new allotment.
So far I have dug two single bed sized beds.
Plot 1:
I have started a row of Apache onions in bed one - about 30cm so far sown.
In the centre of that bed I have put a double row of broad beans - Fothergill's Sutton.
The plan is to do successive plantings of onions every fortnight along both sides of the beans.
Plot 2:
Two double rows of broad beans have been planted today. I need a quicker growing crop to put through the centre.
Later the beans will benefit from being covered with cloches.
More beds required.
Seed order was delivered to Brian on 21 October 2009.

This week is as good as its been for a year.

On Tuesday Paul and I had a stunning session, can't wait for the results.
Have made a start on the paperwork and it looks like we'll still be solvent in May when I can re-schedule everything. Will speak to Mandy to arrange contacts.
Pod's due an op, ought to see him next week.
Holiday planned, need to prepare.
House inspection on the 21st.
Hurrah for the medication, it seems to be curing the wrong ailment but if I get back in control the rest is just down to willpower.
Now all I need to find this weekend is a way of making this machine prompt me for everything and I shall be able to do anything.

Remember that you're unique and special, just like everyone else.

New beginning

I have been mithering about all winter but that sort of ended when the computer caught fire. That is the second time someone has been using the machine when it has suddenly produced clouds of smoke.
Insurance company has come up with a replacement machine and new speakers.
Now back in business but I cannot recall all that has happened in the interim.
So we must take this as a new beginning.

Now I am confused. I seem to be two users both living in the midden. Never mind there is great excitement because lots of projects should conclude next week.
These include:
The shed
The pond
The path
The side gate
The dustbin space
The personal organiser on the home computer.
I do like that "include": I have such hopes for next week.

Arch

We went to buy bird-food and came back with an arch. I can stand upright underneath it, its a metre wide and has a planter at each side. Back for a membrane (which I have filled with the sand Mike gave me a decade ago) and three paving slabs. Dug out the ornamental grass and transplanted a piece of each on the grassy knoll against the fence.
Also bought an Aconitum Hemsleyanum and a Lonicera x Tellmanniana which have gone into the planters.
While in the buying mood got parsley, welsh onions and spearmint. These will go in the remaining barrel planter together with the chives and coriander from pots in the front window.
The lettuce and tomatoes in the propagator have only managed to grow mould. If there is no sign of life by Sunday I shall dump them and try again.
